Axel Vindenes

Axel Sverke Vindenes (b. 1986), of Bergen, has worked in oil on canvas since 2013, advised by Professor Arvid Jarle Pettersen.

His painting follows the expressive tradition and philosophical intensity of Edvard Munch and Ludvig Karsten, yet develops an entirely personal and distinctive style—direct, forceful, and marked by a vivid, instinctive handling of colour and form. Vindenes is principally known as the vocalist and frontman of Kakkmaddafakka, the band he co-founded in Bergen in 2004 and which has maintained its raw, energetic presence on stages at home and abroad for two decades. He is also the founder of The Religion of Joy and Joy Water.
